A horrible accident has occured in the south - part of a pasenger train derailed after crashing into a truck. The death toll now stands at 7 and rising. Let us hope and pray for the wounded in this disaster, and our condolences to the families of those who died. She'Lo Neida Od Tza'ar.

C'mon, more people are killed EACH AND EVERY WEEK in Israel by run of the mill car accidents than were killed in this train crash. Somehow though, because train crashes don't come daily it gets our attention. I'd say the insanity of our passively allowing hundreds of needless deaths a year (and thousands of torturous injuries) is the real tragedy.

Not that I'm arguing againsst your pain vis a vis the train, - in fact I'm touched by it - but I think that we ought to go nuts about the fact that daily needless sacrifices are taking place on the roads.

As for what could be done about them, you oughta have a look at the central bureau of stats on the matter, trhey have an entire book on the year's accidents, detailing every last minute detail regarding them. We know exactly why each accident happens, and in 90% of the cases they're preventable, mainly through stricter police enforcement of the existing laws - mainly through cameras at every intersection.

Just my 2 cents on a death-dealer that no longer shocks us, in fact discussing it bores the hell out of us.
